Island Cemetery Gate and Fence Sections
The Farewell Street entrance to Island Cemetery in Newport required a new entryway that matched the existing ironwork. This is the closest entry to reach the gorgeous Belmont Chapel, for which we restored the stained glass window frames. We hot forged every 7/8” picket for this project, and fabricated a gate and curved fence sections based on the orignals that had rotted away. Pickets were passed through each horizontal channel bar. That meant precision-punching each square hole location in bars that we pre-curved.
